I haven't seen one of these lists in years.

After years of waiting, my friend Spewgie and I ditched the tour group by the Eiffel Tower and found a bar. Deax absinthe, s'il vous plaît! Absinthe was still illegal in France. It was legal in England. Alas, we'd been in London the previous day.

A couple of years later, finally found the Green Fairy. In a bar near my house. Served in an absinthe glass with the sugar cube on the absinthe spoon and ice water from the spigot of the urn.

Tasted somewhere between ouzo and Jägermeister. And is distilled in my city.

Alligator-on-a-stick. Zoo À La Carte. Oddly, the alligator-on-a-stick concession was next to the Reptile House.

Brandy Old Fashioned Sweet is the unofficial Wisconsin state drink. I won a blue ribbon at the state fair in the Brandy Old Fashioned Sweet competition with my recipe which subbed out cognac for the brandy and included gum arabic for silky mouthfeel.
