Friday 5 for June 19: Under lock and key.

1. What’s your mask situation like?

Wearing generic hospital blue disposables. Been out of the Hello Kitty masks I'd saved after being hospitalized with H1N1 influenza twelve years ago. The nurses were so kind to go down to pediatrics for me.

Going to check out washable aloha shirt-themed masks next time I go to the Hawaiian delicatessen for curbside service.

2. In what way is your life better today than a few months ago?

It isn't.

3. What do you miss from normal living?

The Rolling Stones and very probably SCANDAL and Shonen Knife concerts.

Summerfest, The World's Largest Music Festival, and the summer-long ethnic festivals cancelled. July 3rd Fireworks cancelled. Fourth Of July parade cancelled.

4. When this is over, what will be your major takeaway?

Black Lives Matter have been marching in my neighborhood. Not about George Floyd. One of our police officers, Joseph Mensah, has been involved in three fatal shootings over the past five years. They want his badge. They want him in prison. He is racist.

Let's see.

There was the crazy guy who refused to put down his sword and began to attack. Use of force determined to be justified.

Then, according to a local television station, "Jay Anderson Jr. was shot and killed by Mensah while sitting in his car at Madison Park in June 2016. Police said Anderson Jr. had a gun."

BZZZZT! Glossing things over to the point of lying. The Lie Of Misdirection. The Lie Of Omission.

Don't give me that "police said" business. Proven fact. He had a gun. A known drug dealer. Parked on a municipal basketball court at three o'clock in the morning. Not on the street. Not in a parking lot. On the basketball court. And it is clearly evident in the patrol car dashcam recording Jay Anderson Jr was not obeying instructions and went for his gun. Which was in plain sight on the passenger seat.

Autopsy found he had illegal drugs and alcohol in his system beyond legally intoxicated.

Use of force determined to be justified.

Most recently, black teenagers caused another disturbance at the mall. Seventeen year old Alvin Cole got his ass capped after he fired his handgun at police.

If he didn't have a gun, why was an extra magazine found in his backpack? An illegal thirty-five round magazine. And why did he have a backpack at a mall on a Sunday night?

With his fingerprints on the casings. Obvious he loaded it without a clip.

Can't fake evidence like that.

Wait until the protesters discover the racist officer in my lily white village is black.

Incredulous protester: You have a black cop?
勝美: No. We have four.

Now who is the racist?

And if my village is so lily white what am I doing here?

5. What are your feelings about getting back out there sooner, rather than later?

Go ahead. Knock yourself out. Prolong the pandemic.

The mask isn't to protect you. It's to protect me from you.

  1. I'm sorry about your lost concerts. I had a ticket to a concert in March, before official lockdown, but I gave it away. Too many bodies in too small a space. So I feel you!
